Visited our client’s place for a Cable Home Trial audition! He is playing a 9.1 system, featuring a complete Meridian setup. The front and rear speakers are the Meridian DSP 8000 XE, paired with the Special Edition DSP7200HC center speaker. These speakers have a unique build, instead of the usual speaker cables, they require only ethernet cables and power cords to operate.
We brought a variety of ethernet cables and power cord to fine tune and to optimise the potential of his speakers.
The client initially requested to use Neotech NEET1008 Silver cables for all 5 speakers. He liked the clear separation but feedback that it was rather lean. Thus we suggested replacing the 2 rear speakers, which provide ambient sound, to Neotech NEET3008 Copper cables to give it a ricer sounding.. In addition, we connected the Audiomica Excellence Ethernet Cable to his LHY Switch, which introduces better tempo and rhythm, along with enhanced soundstage. We also replaced all his stock power cords with the Neotech NEP3200G, bringing out the dynamism of his speakers.
He was delighted to discover that cables from different brands can actually complement one another, significantly enhancing the sound performance of the speakers.
He describes the sound performance of his system as a transformation; initially he can only see the red part segment of the rainbow, but now he can see the entire spectrum of the rainbow. The home audition made him realise the importance of mix and matching cables and their impact on the overall performance of his system.
